The London Marathon Budget.

For the first time, the 2024 London Marathon, scheduled for Sunday April 21, will make history by becoming the first marathon in the world to offer identical prizes to wheelchair and able-bodied athletes. This decision follows the announcement by TCS, the organization responsible for the race, on February 22, 2024.

The total amount of rewards allocated to wheelchair racing was increased to 50,200 euros, thus reaching the 287,700 euros already set for able-bodied athletes. Each winner, whether able-bodied or in a wheelchair, will receive 50,660 euros in their respective category. Likewise, the second in each category will receive 27,640 euros, and the third, 20,730 euros.

This initiative marks major progress towards equality and recognition of the achievements of wheelchair athletes, reflecting the growing commitment of London Marathon and its partners to inclusiveness and fairness in elite sport.
